Ellesmere Port firm Call Zebra has adopted children’s charity Claire House during its 10th anniversary year.

The forward-thinking accident management company, which has just celebrated its first year in business, aims to raise thousands of pounds for the charity over the next 12 months.

Call Zebra staff are already planning a 100 mile bike ride from Aberystwyth to Wrexham, North Wales, and now have their sights set on tackling Peru’s mountainous Inca Trail, as well as fundraising through motor industry events. TV motoring personality and Wheeler Dealers star Mike Brewer, who is the face of Call Zebra, has also pledged to support the cause.

Darren Gilling, managing director of Call Zebra, based on the Pioneer Business Park, Ellesmere Port, said: “We wanted to do something special in the community to mark our first anniversary and when we heard about Claire House’s year-long 10th birthday celebrations we really wanted to get involved and make small difference. Claire House is such a fantastic organisation which helps so many families across Merseyside, and beyond. I only hope many more companies come forward to support them this year and make it their best ever.”

Helen Carlson, area fundraising manager at Claire House, said: “It’s fantastic that Call Zebra have adopted us for the year as they celebrate their first anniversary as we celebrate our 10th anniversary. We are looking forward to developing a relationship over the course of year and getting involved in some of the wonderful fundraising events they are planning.”

Claire House, located in Clatterbridge Road, Bebington, Wirral, is the local hospice for Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and Isle of Man. It needs £2.2m to support its services this year and does not receive any guaranteed government funding. The centre was built on community and business donations and took 10 years to complete.
